Dennis was born August 22, 1952 in Houston. He graduated from the University of Houston class of 1977 with a Bachelors degree in Marine Biology. He was the Information Technology Specialist for the NOAA, National Marine Fisheries Service with over 28 years of service before his retirement. Dennis was a very active person and he and his wife were members of the Bay Area Whip Dance Club and were instructors in Whip and Lindy Hop. He was also a Jujitsu Instructor in Chi Su Te, studying under Master Gary Jones. Dennis loved to travel with his wife in the RV, loved music and was a great photographer. He was an environmentalist at heart and belonged to the Sierra Club, the National Parks and Wildlife, The Wilderness Society, Houston Swing Dance, and National Resources Defense Council. He was also a U of H Alumni Association Member.
The Dennis B. Koi Cancer Treatment Fund was established at UTMB to help those without insurance to receive the medications associated with chemotherapy treatment. We encourage you to donate to the fund each year.
